Adrian and Louise Flanagan visited the Royal Lymington Yacht Club on Wednesday 27 February and gave a very interesting talk on Adrian’s vertical circumnavigation. Some 120 members were present and the talk went down extremely well. A lot of interest was shown in particular in his adventures – such as being swept overboard and washed back again and in his trials around Cape Horn. Members were also fascinated in the Arctic leg of the voyage and Adrian’s encounters with ice and polar bears! I am sure there will be many who will purchase his soon to be published account of this remarkable voyage. After the talk, Adrian and Louise went on to supper and met up with Luke and Emma McEwen members of the Club, who had recently completed a four year horizontal circumnavigation! – so I suspect they had plenty to talk about.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we are looking forward to them both returning to the Club at some future date.
